The msd is like 500 smackers so i looked around they have a accel one for 250 ? is the msd that much better ? or should i just run stock ? if the msd is the way to go then i will spend the bread for it , I like to give my sweetheart the best there is ya know ... I just dont like wasting money... thats a xtra 200 bucks that could go towrds my heads

always remember you get what you pay for.The MSD unit is actually like $100 more than the GM replacement unit.It features copper points so you always get a better connection. It is also sealed better to keep out water, dirt, etc.Ive had mine on the car almost 2 years now with no issues. It is well worth it.

ACCEL makes good ignition products. You might want to go to the site and compare it to the MSD. If there similiar buy the ACCEL opti, thats my suggestion.

I only have 2 weeks on the Summit optispark (supposed to be made by Accel). While it was all apart i did the opti, replaced all 8 plugs, installed 8.5mm wires, replaced the water pump and thermostat. I'm getting it ready to ultimately give to my son.

Now don't you know that one of the little hoses form the water pump to the radiotor has a little pin-hole leak. I only replaced the larger hoses...............I'm an idiot and should have doine the others too while it was completely drained.

Anyway, while doing the opti, check everything else since you'll be "in there"

I like MSD my self. Im not sure if you will get any extra juice out of it but i expect that it will be good quality and will last.

You're not going to get any extra power out of the MSD unit, maybe a little if you're modded and pushing your redline above ~6500 rpm or so. The MSD also has the capability of pushing the timing a little, but that's not really necessary since the PCM advances the timing as much as it can without detonation anyway. If I were to replace my Opti I would purchase the MSD unit because it's well made, and as Alih already brough up it's fully sealed and made with quality components.
