Default Need help with Fuel Issue

Hello , I have a 1995 camaro z28 5.7 that has developed a problem. I was driving and the car died out I attempted to restart after 4 key turns I heard the fuel pump kick on and drove it home (only two blocks) and it did the same thing. I hooked up a pressure Gage and had like 37 disconnected the regulator and it jumped to 45 didnt have any fuel in regulator line or regulator. I cant get it to die at idle only if I rEV IT but if I drive it for sure it dies takes about 3 or 4 key turns to hear pump engae again. Has anyone had this problem? Fuel pump? regulator? any help is appreciatated!!!!

first try a fuel filter. 4th Gen LT1 F-body Fuel Filter Replacement dump the contents of the old filter into a clear container from the tank side of the filter. look to see if theres water in it or its full of crud. you have a fuel pump relay. it could be failing. http://shbox.com/1/fuel_pump_relay.jpg

Thanks for the reply Crabby! I did replace the fuel filter but didn't look for water or dirt. I also had another relay that i popped in and it did the same.

It is pretty normal for people to say the car was hard to start or that it took a lot of atemps to get it to start right before the fuel pump fails completely. If think the 95 has a fuel pump test lead. You want to check to see if that has power while the car will not start. If it does then it is either the connector or the fuel pump.

Kind of sounds like the fuel pump is overheating.

The prime connector is right near the PCM. I know Shoebox has a good picture of where the connector is. A simple test light would see if the pump is loosing power or if the pump is just stops working. I really need to start saving these links. I am sure someone will post it.

fuel pump or ignition module, coil can do it to. have you been able to test fuel pressure when it won't start?

I assumed that ment he did not hear the fuel pump before but once he heard it then the car start. I may have read too much into that.

I agree with craby, Step one is are you loosing Spark or Fuel.

That's what I read too, that the first three key turns didn't cycle the fuel pump....

Thanks again guys! The fuel pressure Gage drops to 0 total loss of fuel pressure! I watched the pressure Gage as I was trying to start and listening for pump to kick on too. I think for sure the pump is bad
