Hello,
I have a 1995 Camaro Z28 LT1. I just had the engine rebuilt and I was able to get everything back together. I put a new MSD Distributor on as well and the car seems to run fine.
The problem is my check engine light is on and I have two codes. The first one is 043 Elec Spark Control (ESC) Module or Sensor Problem and the other one is 084 Output Driver Module (ODM) Fault. Skip Shift Circuit.
Any ideas or suggestions as to what it could be or what I should do?
Thanks,
Tim

so i replaced the knock sensor and checked the circuit for any wiring problems and everything seems fine but im still recieving the code electronic spark control module or sensor problem.
I did hook up my auto scanner and saw that the knock sensor is giving off a reading. I heard that the elec. spark control module or sensor code is just a generic gm code and it could be a number of different problems involving spark, is that true?
I thought that maybe I needed to drive the car in order for the computer to reset. However when i went to drive it, it didnt idle very well. It runs fine as long as my foots on the gas but when i take it off it acts like its going to shut off.
Any other suggestion or ideas as to what i can do to figure out what is going on?

They are talking about the KS module that is plugged into the PCM. Open the trap door on the PCM and you can see the module plugged into the PCM. Recheck all wiring for breaks and/or bad connections, including the connector on the PCM (pin #22 on the Blue connector). Make sure the KS is screwed into the block tightly and making good electrical contact with it. No rust or plumbers tape around the KS. The KS module is replaceable, and you may want to use one for the LT4 instead of the one for the LT1. When the code is set, the PCM goes to full spark retard in order to prevent engine damage. This will then make the engine run poorly

Sometimes the knock sensor goes off if there is a knock in the motor. If you stepped up the cam to maybe if you did not do a complete overhaul something inside the motor is making a little noise? The knock sensor can hear noises you can not. Lt4 knock sensor Pete mentioned above is less sesitive than the stock Lt1 sensor. It is a common upgrade on built motors you can also program out some of the sesitivity . I would want to see on the scan tool when the PCM was picking up the knock.
