so was driving around and when i come to park i shut the car off and 5 mins later about a half a cup of anti freeze leaks out the passenger side and i hear a boiling and gurgling. started it back temp gauge is fine, so i back it into the garage and when im in there it stops dripping i jacked it up and looked and all the hoses are good and dry ,cant see where its coming from everything is dry. is this some kinda fail safe thing for hot weather or thermostat failure? fans did come on btw.

 

This happened to me after I drove 400 miles from Indiana to Pennsylvania, shut the engine off, and turned it back on after about 20 mins to repark it.
My theory is, the block heated the coolant in the engine and when I turned it back over, it circulated with the cooled-down liquid in the radiator and it just puked out the overflow.
Only happened once so far, and that was a couple weeks ago. It was over 90ºF that day, so that might have had an influence as well.

A cap not holding correct pressure will cause it to do that. Don't beleive me? Go to your car and let it get to operating temp and leave the cap off, then turn off the car and watch a geyser

 

okay i`ll swap out the radiator cap and see if it happens back

 

Make sure the overflow container is not overfilled, otherwise it will overflow when you shut the engine down. Engine temp increases for a while after the engine is turned off, and the expanding coolant is released into the catch can, and then sucked back in the radiator as the engine cools and the coolant contracts. As aleady mentioned by others, a bad radiator cap will allow too much coolant out and overfill the catch can.

 

its from the over flow, i know from retarded step inlaw i guess you could call him as he put water in the over flow of the 92 when i changed the radiator and he was helping me... and thinks he is "master mechanic" (sorry for rant, just that was a bad day for me )

 

Some car like the newer 1500 can only be filled from thr overflow so its not always bad

 

just an update, i pulled the injectors and sent it to get cleaned and flowtested, the ppl said they were all dirty and two of them were underperforming a tad less than the others, car runs a little more peppier lets see how the gas goes, i changed the filter before starting up, and the previous one was dirty and was kinda sandy gas comin out of it.
