Hey mate, good reasoning behind the bags. Have to let us know how they feel!!! The Gate is the opposite end to the ****. Have to look at the shifter pictures again but you might get the height that you want but just cutting the top off the shifter and rethreading it if, then the **** doesnt come to close to the HURST wording. Otherwise you will need to top and tail it to pretty well centre it up and get the height that you want.

Hope this helps, let me know what the bottom looks like or shoot a pic, as you have more than 10 posts.

Thanks mate cheers ben.

damn bro, sounds like a lot of work. I think i will just keep it as is for now. Really wanna get the car restored before I go upgrading my upgrades if you know what i mean. I still have to fix the A/C, repair the leather, replace the rear tires, install the airbags, and rear shocks (which have arrived and will hopefully get put on this weekend), then have the car repainted. shew. a lot of work....

Alright guys and gals, just got the new rear shocks (Monroe Road Warrior) and the air bags (Airlift 1000). Install was super easy. After I got them in, I aired them up (not sure what PSI) and took it for a spin. Talk about night and day.... The car goes over bumps much better. NO BOTTOMING OUT!!! I think that was the greatest accomplishment. After a short little cruise, I took it on the on-ramps and around a few corners, it hugs the road a little better than the previous shocks. After getting the old ones out, I noticed that they were not Gabriels, nor were they bad. They still had plenty of pressure, but were super stiff. I am more of a comfort guy, so i opted to take off the KYB Gas-Adjust shocks that were on there, and throw the Monroes in. I kept the KYBs just in case I dont like the monroes.

^Ack! Monroe on an SS?! Bistein or Koni or nothing for handling, IMHO -- I thought you said you talked to Strano about shocks?

no i talked to strano about the air bags. I got the shocks super cheap (25 bucks brand new) so i thought i would throw them on to see how it did. Works fine for my driving style

^ If you would have talked to him about shocks too, I think you would have thought twice before getting Monroes... Strano proclaims the shocks are the weakest part in F-Body suspension parts what you got would likely be just like the weak factory shocks.

That may be the case, but they are on the car now and it rides 100 times better than it did with the adjustable KYB's that were on the car. Oh well, now I can save up for the Konis.

Finally got my shift boot bracket in, so I installed that this evening. Now the boot wont be trying to fall off all the dang time. Now just need to find that ashtray cover....

Ordered my A/C Compressor on Saturday, hoping it to be here early next week so I can get that in. didn't order the accumulator yet, since I don't know if it is bad or not.
