which is more reliable?

Default which is more reliable?

the LT1 or LS1 i just looked at a 97 z28 anniversary package and tomorrow im lookin at a 98 z28. i know enough about each engine but was curious as to which one is more reliable. thanks

Depends on how they were maintained. Only a year apart so the mieage should be checked and see which one was driven harder.

Yes but they have a totally different engine. I would say the LS1 is tad more reliable. The opti-spark on the LT1 was kind of a funky design, plus the LS1 makes more power and takes to mods better. IMO I would find a 99 LS1 over the 98. 98's have a funky computor that is not very easy to tune, so if you plan on modding the car in the future the 99 and up cars are a better bet.

lol I uno your one of the most respected poster's on this fourm and imo the mustang fourm. So I guess itsa respect thing.


But on topic id go with the LS1 over the LT1 just becouse the opti spark is just crap my buddie hasa 96' z28 and the thing goes through optisparks like crazy.

I haven't had any trouble with the opti, and my car doesn't use oil like most LSX cars do. Anything can be unreliable if it has had the crap ran out of it or wasn't taken car of.

While that's true silver, on average more people have issues with the LT1 and it's opti than the LS1. MY car uses about 3/4 of a quart over 3000 miles.
