Default Lt5

I am sorry if this has been covered already but I looked and did not find a similar topic. A friend of mine may have a line on a LT5 out of a totaled 1994 ZR1 Vette. (totally legit and documented, this motor is not "hot") and I would LOVE to have it in my 1995 Z-28. My question is, is this even possible. I imagine there would be a lot of computer work to do and from what I hear, the rear end may not be able to handle the HP, but would the motor match to the mounts and would it bolt to my automatic tranny? I know the intake manifolds on those where kinda high, would it even fit under the hood? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

The 1994 LT5 is not the same LT5 that was used near the end of the Lt1 production. This one is a 4 cam v8 and pretty large physically. It was rated at 405 HP wich can be easily obtained by a properly built LT1. Cosidering how tightly the LT1 engine fits into the Camaro, putting one of these Lt5s in the engine compartment will generate a lot of slicing & dicing, and on the end not very rewarding.

Somewhere there is a Vet owner that needs that motor bad. For what it should be worth you could built a nice try and true 383 LT1. Turst when I say ANY repairs that motor would need in the future will cost a large stack of money. I mean any repair.

383 LT1 FTW but even a LS1 convertion is a lot more doable then one of those Vet motors.
