Default LT1 and LS1

What are the major differences in the 2 as far and MPG and price goes? Right now i have a 96 Z28. It has about 120k miles on it. But it runs great. Ive seen LS1 camaros fro sale for about 5k. Do you think if i sold my 96 i could have enough money to get an LS1?

Where do you live, 5K LS1's?...... i've never seen a LS1 for under 7K around me. I've heard LS1's have been able to achieve 30mpg highway and my LT1 is good for 24-26mpg highway.

I get like 14 MPG in my LT1 in city driving. I get a little right-foot happy to though (Just like z28rob said) since I just got the car and all the extra horsepower is just a little to fun. It's definetely worth it though, made driving fun again.

as far as MPG i get about 27 highway, 18-20 street, but it is a much more reliable motor(no optispark distributor) and the LS1 has WAY more potential for power gains. it also has more horses stock, stock lt1 275hp, stock ls1 about 300hp. if you can get an LS1 for 5k DO IT!!!!! LS1's are in a whole different league than LT1's. Ive owned both, a 94 LT1, and now my 02 SS, and i must say, i am glad i sold my LT1.

i wouldn't say it has WAY more potential for power gain. yes it does have more potential, but you're going to pay more to do it too. i'll stick with my lt1 thank you

P.S. ls1s have 350 horsepower. Not 300.

IfI could buy an ls1 for 5000, it ran, and had less than 250000 miles on it, then I'd buy it in a heart beat.

they have maybe 350 at the crank but i was talking horses to the rear wheels, lt1's have about 275 to the wheels, and ls1's a little over 300. to the wheels.
