Talking LS1 Horsepower?

I just recently bought a 2002 Z28 with a 5.7 v8 MPI LS1 engine. At least I think it is the LS1. I have a couple of questions if anybody can help me out. How much horsepower am I pushing? I had a 1995 Z28 with an LT1 and it got 295 horsepower. But I swear this 2002 has a lot more. Everything I read says 305 but it seems like more. Does anybody have a good idea?

What is the difference between a 2002 Z28 Coupe and the 2002 35th anniversary edition? Mine is the 35th anniversary edition. I don't see anything very obvious.

Also, what should my oil pressure gauge be registering when idling and driving?

Any answers are appreciated. Thanks

Your 02 should be pushing 310bhp@5200 rpm. I thought every 02 Camaro was a 35th anniversary edition so I don't know about that.

You should learn the search function. It took 2 minutes to find this on this site.

I also thought all 02's were 35th anniversary editions, learn something new every day.

Thanks everyone for the information. First the only reason I asked about the horsepower here is because I have searched on many different sites and came up with different answers. I was hoping someone knew for sure.

Also, I thought that all 2002 were 35th anniversary editions as well. But when you go to Kelley blue book, it asks for 2002 Z28 or 2002 Z28 35th anniversary edition. Maybe that is just something wrong on Kelly blue book.

Anyway thanks again. I do appreciate the info.

What? the link I post explains there was under 3400 Special anniversary editions made. They are numbered and everything. THe debate on how much HP a LS1 has has been going on since the where produced. Seems the common info we get from people that have had dynos done is 325. SLP offered a special 345 HP version and I think all they did was a better CAI and a Hi flow Cat. I think the Vet was listed at 350 HP.

From what I've heard, different intake, different intake manifold.. and thats it.

Ive heard 325 to 330 from the dynos as well.

Most LS1s dyno anywhere from lower 290s to almost 330 depending on the mileage and overall condition of the drivetrain. A good base number people like to go with is 330-340.

Not sure on the oil pressure. I wanna say 40 though...

The intake manifold is different in 98 and 99. They switched to the LS6 manifold in 2000. The main difference is the cam profile.

The LS1 Vette and LS1 F-body use the same exact intake manifold and the engines are damn near exact depending on what year they came out of. This has been talked about more then one time on this forum.

The Vette and F-body LS1 did have some small changes made over the production years but if you compare like year vehicals the only changes where very small and didnt show any advantage on any dyno. The reason the Vett's dyno a little higher is because there drive line robs just a little less power from the engine and factors that are not attached to the motor like exhaust and intake systems.

As far as oil pressure goes you should be above 15 psi at 600rpms and that would be a little low for most LS1 cars.

The LS1 is rated at 335hp if i am not mistaken. This number is a little under rated and the car will dyno around 290hp on a A4 car and around 300 on a M6 car give or take a few.
