Default low speed hard turning

Sometimes at parking lot speed while turning its like I lose power steering for a few seconds. I do not recall if it is while breaking and turning but it has happened in a place more than once where I probably would be breaking.
It is very rare but troubling. I remember when my steering pump went out in my astro van the breaks were also gone. Steering fluid is clean and full with no bubbles no abnormal noise. It is a little freaky because if it does this at high speed it could be bad.

Its probably your ps pump. At high speeds you wont need power steering or likely feel it. Lots of cars dont have power steering so consider it a luxury.

LOL. This is way stiffer than non power steering rigs its like it actively fights you but I agree its some sort of intermittent ps problem just wondering why because honestly if this happened under the right conditions it could be a real problem.

You can relax, the brakes and power steering in this car are independent of each other, and you won't lose the brakes if the power steering fails.
Possible causes of you problem.
Power steering pump failing
Drive belt slipping
Worn steering rack
Wrong type of fluid
Wrong size pulley on pump or crankshaft
Idle speed too low
Trying to turn the steering wheel faster than the pump can follow
Air in system
Internal leaks.
Happy hunting.

I will go with turning faster than the pump can keep up with. I appreciate the list though as I know what I can rule out now.

if it keeps getting worse then i would say its the relief valve in the pump. these steering pumps are known for that. the rebuilds are a roll of the dice as far as getting a good one and thats all you can get.

It's harder than a non ps car because maros are not meant to be driven without ps. It's a huge car. I had my pump fail on me and trust me I gained some muscle kus of it.

How many miles on the car, and when was the PS fluid last changed? You can suck it out of the reservoir using a turkey baster...
