Default Loud banging noise [with video]

Getting this horrible banging noise when giving WOT. Unfortuantely the poor sound quality of my phone makes it sound worse then it actually is, but still sounds bad. If i continue to accelerate hard the bang will happen repeatedly like "bang bang bang" (if that makes sense)

Currently have a trans leaking down off the bell housing, not sure if this noise could be related to the transmission..? cheers
Edit - this is auto trans

Have you first checked your trans-mount integrity for cracks or separation?

Not yet, taking it to a mechanic this week. Am just wondering how worried I should be.. I'm not very mechanically inclined, is there anything I can look at in the mean time?

Does it sound or feel like it's coming from the tunnel area near the seats? If so, most likely it's a torn trans mount, and the torque arm connecting the rearend to the back of the trans is making the trans lift and bang the floor. Till you get it fixed, drive gently with your right foot to help prevent the tail of the trans from jumping up.

Jack the car up and have a look around -- you can easily inspect your trans mount yourself, and it's not hard to replace.

trans mount would be more of a thump. in the tape it sounds more like a snap or scrape. is that correct? i know how recordings can change noises. assuming this is a auto trans i would look at the starter and flexplate for lose bolts, damage or misalignment.

If its the trans mount i switched to a prothane poly mount and i like it a lot. The noise increase was minimal and is surely a lot stronger than the rubber mounts. And according to spohn's website it is the stock height so it shouldnt cause any driveline issues

Thanks for your replies, I have had to delay getting it looked at till next week but I will post update asap.

I see what you mean by thinking its a scrape, but I think thats the recording quality. It sounds like a bang more then a thump. I think it's coming from around the gear **** though, as apposed to the seats...

Couldn't see what kind of trans you have. If it's a manual, you should be seeing the shifter lift as the trans does, provided the mount is separated.
