like niteman said it depends on where the smoke is coming from. if its coming out of the tail pipes its in the motor, if its coming off of the tail pipes its a leak.

White smoke is usually indicative of a bad head gasket, not an oil leak. If it's an oil leak the smoke is going to be more of a blue color and will usually occur only when the motor is under a load.

^ bingo.

Watch your temperature for the next couple weeks, check your coolant level every day, and keep watching for this smoke. You could be looking at an opportunity to tear into the motor.

so if its doing it only when u are running the car hard? if u think its leaking get under the car and see if u have oil coming from the motor or rearend. look the exhaust over for sighns of oil on it. we have had one person on here with a bad rearend seal that did somthin similar. also my intake manifold was doing somthing like that and it was leaking all the way around. it leaked at the front and back of the intake and made it look like front and rear seals were bad but following the trail i could see the oil was coming from further up on the motor. the intake gaskets (sides of intake) were also leaking bad so when i ran it hard it would suck oil into the cylinders making the exhaust smoke a little (not like what u have) but not when just crusin.
