Looks like an LT1 but i need a 2nd opinion
So at my autotech class i was diggin thru the engines and i found what appears to be a 350 but i need some outside opinons.. its an 8 cyl and has the same valve covers as my engine and its really dirty so i couldnt find any markings that would tell me what it was. I took some pics with my cell phone. Sorry their so big but if i shrink em the quality is soo low you cant see much.

Better yet you could grab us a casting number off the heads so we can see if they're aluminum (Camaro/Corvette) or iron...Look for the head casting number under the valve covers, it will be between a set of rockers (I believe between the first and second sets, but don't quote me on that).

Well, an LT1 is a plain SBC at heart
The thing that's giving us the speculation right now is the valve covers, they're center bolt, ribbed, black and slanted in the front, all qualities of an LT1 valve cover.

so even if it wasnt an "LT1 Camaro/Firebird" engine if its a SBC i can still use the block at least correct? Kuz my plan is (if its a 350) to buy it from the school (or trade em mine which ever comes first probably buy it) and just clean it up andthrow all new parts into it.

I'm with importmd, plain sbc. The holeswhere the water pump goes are different. There two holes, oneon top of the other, on each side. I don't think theres two bolts under the holes. More like 3 on each side(one on the side, one on top, and one on the bottom of the holes).
