My brother was facing somewhat the same question you are. He had a headgasket blow so a rebuild was needed. He went with a 383 kit, with a nice beefy stall and some 4.11s. He went cheap on one thing-the stall. Now this car has a horrible stall like 2800 or something really ****ty and he for some reason left stock manifolds on it. With that said I have rode in the car and believe it would take my LS1 pretty easily. With a good stall, Long tubes, and a little spray I dont see why low 7s in the 1/8th would be out of the question. All for a few grand more than the LT4 kit, plus you would have a fresh build on your engine

yeah a 383 sounds appealing but i think im just gonna beef up a LT1 still, have loyd elliot do some work buy some performance parts in the engine andthe rest of the car to strengthenthe car etc and see what kind of numbers i get n/a. Then save up for a supercharger, see what numbers i make if im not satisfied then get spray... but im sure ill be fine with n/a.. im not looking for a track monster trailer queen i want a street/strip car.
