Whammer, you've almost got it. The LT1 has a different block from a "traditional" 1st gen SBC(thus why Chevy called it the "Gen II"). They're based on the same design, but the LT1 block has different mounting locations for the distributor and water pump.

We already went over that the LT4 convesion is pretty expensive for the power that you get out of it. The advertised "450" HP that conversion gets you is just slightly over the 330 that was advertised by GM because they get the "450" on a dyno with the motor not running any periferals (no water pump, alternator etc.) and running a set of dyno headers. Once you get that "450" HP motor under a hood, running periferals and a full exhaust it's going to drop around 50-70+ crank HP. The only benefit of that kit over an actual LT4 is a slightly more aggressive cam.

Sorry, I'm not trying to be a Debby Downer or anything, but the fact that it's already been discussed in this thread (page 2 or so)...and Spartan has already decided not to go with the LT4 package. I guess I just kinda get annoyed when people post up stuff that's already been discussed. Ok, now that we're all friends again...
