Default Long tubes went in today

[sm=bounceybounce.gif]

The car sounds nuts. going from the pissy little manifolds and a catted 2"exhaust to long tubes with full 3" changed the sound completely, everyone turns their head to look now when I go by. Everyone. its awesome. Sorry to say it, but yenko, i will be keeping my car. you cant have it .

Anyway, the manifold removal was cake.... actually.... easier than cake... it was like cake flavored ice cream. in a box....
anyway, the only problem was the rear passenger bolt with didnt take a whole lot of coaxing once we got the y out of the way. the pass side header slipped right into place, we had to loosen the motor mount and lift the motor slightly and the driver side went in right away. bolted it all up, started it.... no start..... something goofy with the starter. jiggled the starter a little, and it started up. then we noticed a couple leaks in the new y pipe. turns out my buddy didnt tighten the clamps as much as they needed. fixed the leaks, and set off.

at first I was unimpressed with the gains. sure it sounded better, but wasnt really anything special. then I got the bad news. flashing SEL [&:]. took it to auto zone, and i got rear O2 codes (duh, o/r y pipe, this was expected) and an unexpected misfire cyl 4. shiz.... so I go home, one of the guys who was helping me wiht the install was at my apartment complex. we take a look at the motor and..... looks as if I forgot to plug the spark plug wire back into the coil after removing it to reinstall the dip stick [&:][&:][&:][:@][>:]. so I was running around on 7 cylinders for about 20 miles. no biggie.by buddy said he was surprised how well it behaved having a mis fire. you couldnt hear or detect anything unusual about the behavior of the car. but anyway, we plugged that bad boy back in and WHAM!

thought id add suspense. the wham means it was hella faster . like omg i wasnt ready for it. very noticable gains on the long tube install. the car is much more torquey down low. pulls harder up top. im not much for the *** dyno, but I can tell its faster, and i am usually my own worst critic.

ugh [:@]

my ypipe hung a little low, which wasnt a big deal, cept for the u-style clamp that holds the tsp ypipe together right at the lowest point. I hit a piece of concrete and it bent the ypipe back and took it right off the header. Its in the muffler shop now getting welded into 1 piece on the driver side rather than 2. Bent the y pretty good, but everything is still solid. I should have known that no install is ever that easy. The car-mod gods strike again [&:]

on the plus side, open headers sound awesome
