legal question. anybody help?
 

I bought a 2002 camaro from a dealership. The window sticker said it was a 35th anniversary EDITION car. It is a v6 3.8 lt, which we all know is not a 35th EDITION. does anybody know if there is anything I can do? Whether it be getting them to drop the price or even refund me my payments and take the car back and buy a regular SS for cash?

*to clarify i didnt know quite as much then as I do now about the 35th anv edition and differentiating the v8 and v6 by it saying edition vs just 35th anv

Talk to the dealer, and if no help report them to the State Attorney and Better Business Bureau. Provide written proof to prove your case, but don't expect much. If the dealer was a GM new car dealer, write to the GM CEO.

I'm pretty sure that all 2002 cars had a "35th Anniversary" badge on the dash. A lot of people point at that and say, "ooh look at me! This car is a limited edition, even though every other car assembled in 2002 has the exact same badge!"

35th Anniversary Edition is an SS/Z28, coupe or convertible, automatic or manual trans, and was red with dual silver stripes/checkered flag combo.
Technically by math, all 02's are 35th anniversary cars. But the "Anniversary Edition" was a special model.
It was false advertising, probably due to the dealers own ignorance.
As far as a legal issue, did you pay a premium because of it supposedly being an Anniversary Edition? Or did you pay a fair price for a v6 car?

I saw this at a dealer I worked for. They sold a Z28 clone. The guy figured it out about week late. He wanted a full refund and his trade in back, Problem was the trade in was gone. the dealer ship offer to refund some of the money but the guy said he wanted it all and he wanted to keep the car since we did not have his trade in anymore. He took the owner to court. He did not win one penny. Turns out that no where on any of the paper work did it say the car was a z28. Judge told the guy show me one place it says Z28 on the paper work, Or prove the saleman knew it was not a z28 and told you it was. Salesman can not lie about a car but he does not have to be an expert either.

By all means talk to the dealer. I am sure if the above guy had suggested they let him have the car at cost they would have jumped at it to avoid court and the guy would have saved 30% on the sale price.

All 2002 Models are 35th Anniversary Editions. Some of them just aren't "Special Editions" or aka "Limited Editions". Legally you can't do anything because the dealer was correct in advertising that it was a 35th Anniversary Edition. You could expect to pay anywhere from $6,000 to $10,000 for a V6 35th Anniversary Edition depending on location, mileage, and condition of the car.
