Default K&n fipk

Hi All,

Just bought my second Camaro , a 94 V6 Conv. last night ( I already have a 69 Conv.)

The car came with a K&N CAI (FIPK 57) which has a small outlet for the A.I.R pump. My car doesn't have an AIR pump so the previous owner had this small filter installed on it as shown in the picture.
The K&N manual said to plug this outlet if no AIR pump is there, my question is should I remove the small filter and plug this outlet or is it OK to leave it as is.

Thanks in advance.

im not sure how the air coming in at that angle is effecting the air flow. maybe none and maybe some. could try pluging it and see if any difference is noticed.

My concern is that this outlet is very close to the engine , so it allows hot air to go in , I think you're right , I'll plug it anyways

Thanks Craby, I plugged it and serviced the Air Filter, but it's dark now where I live so will re-install it tomorrow , the filter was totally clogged ! dunno if the previous owner had any idea that an air filter existed in this car

Absolutely FD ... it is an oil breather , dunno what the guy was thinking allowing hot air from the top of the engine... I thought I'd ask though cause I was in doubt if this outlet has another use until I checked K&N website and they said to plug it if no A.I.R pump is there

make sure you let the filter set overnight on some news paper to drain excess oil. the oil they use can ruin the intake air temp sensor and the maf.

A good suggestion also would get a good intake filter cleaner
