Default K&N CAI or Free Ram Air Mod?

I'm looking to get a few more horses out of my 3800. I've heard the air intakes on the 98—02 are fairly decent. Should I go with a CAI or the Free Ram Air Mod?

Free ram air really doesn't do anything for you by itself. The SLP CAI is actually a good value on the 3.8

So I've been doing some research, I've read in a few places that the air intake on the 98-02 camaros are decent. Was thinking either

Cold Air Induction Kit
1998-2002 CAMARO V6/LS1 SS Z28 SLP COLD AIR INDUCTION KIT 21033 RAM AIR WS6 | eBay

or maybe a Cold Air Intake
K&N COLD AIR INTAKE KIT CHEVROLET CAMARO PONTIAC FIREBIRD, V6-3.8L 1998-02 (24844109385) | eBay

Quite a big price difference, not sure which one to go with. Both you guys have said Cold Air Intake over the free ram air mod. What about intake vs induction? If I could find a whisper lid for a decent price I would go with the cold air induction kit and a K&N air filter for sure.

Intake, induction same thing in this regard. Both things you linked are trying to do the same thing, but the K&N costs more because of the name. SLP and Fast Toys (same exact setup) have the best setup for the v6 and ls1. Get yourself one of those, shave the baffles in the lid down and call it a day. Also note the "free ram air mod" is needed to use the SLP or Fast toys setup (these cars are bottom feeders, they draw air from down by the radiator).

SLP CAI, Whisper Lid, high-flow air filter.

That would be my ideal setup. Only problem being, I can't find a decent priced Whisper lid for the 3800. I found one at Rick's Camaros for $250 Camaro Air Box Lid, V6, 1999-2002 - Rick's Camaro Parts

Which is really expensive for the gain you get, also it's $120 more than the original list price from Whisper.

Here's what I'm thinking for an air filter.

air filter doesn't matter in the slighest. Paper will still be the best as it provides better protection.

Do the bellows for the slp cai works for the 3800's or is that only an ls1 mod?

The SLP smooth bellows will only fit the ls1. You can do your own version of it in frenco tubing found in hardware stores; don't expect to gain any power from it, it is an appearance only mod.
