Thanks, that works!! Only difference is, after pressing the pin, slightly turn the key and pull gently as you turn it. But, I can't get the cylinder to drop back in, I'll keep at it!

Like I said, figuring out how to put the cylinder back in was harder than figuring out how to remove it. My car was screwed up because someone had worked on this part before and didn't do it right. The casting date on the latch assembly was "01" so it had been replaced and I couldn't insert a key in the cylinder at all. Turns out this was because the guy who worked on it previously was in the same spot that you are now. He "solved" his problem by pulling the silver tumbler out of its slot, removing the spring, and reinserting the silver tumbler. That did allow him to get the lock cylinder in place but then the silver tumbler blocked the key hole.

The "key" to getting the cylinder back in is moving that silver tumbler located all the way at the key hole end. You move it by first sliding the cylinder in as far as it will go (locked position, without a key inserted). Then you stick the key in just enough to move that first tumbler (silver) and the cylinder drops in the rest of the way.

Ok, I've spent a couple of hours trying to get this back in, no good, is there something I'm missing? It won't go in at all in the "locked" position, it will in the "unlocked" but not all the way. What am I missing here? I really don't want to break this plastic cylinder.

Finally got it! You have to depress all the tumblers with your finger, even the silver one, then insert the key in the lock, then insert the lock upside down, rotate 1/4 turn counter clockwise. That puts it in the right position to pull the key out and then the silver tumbler holds it in place. Pretty simple once you figure it out. Your right though, if you just insert the key the silver tumbler will not budge. Thanks, for the help!
