Ignition Problem, Help please.
So i've got a 97 V6 Camaro , pretty much standard stuff.
My problem is that it will sometime fail to start. There is no turning over or anything. I will try a few times in a row to start and nothing will happen, but if I just wait a few minutes and come back it will start right away. Normally after it doesn't work for awhile it will do a long crank to start. After that it will start up right away until without the long crank.
I had the starter checked and was told it was fine. I checked the battery and was told it was bad and had it replaced.
The solutions i've been given have been to replace the key, replace the ignition system, replace the spark plugs, and to replace the alternator.
I'm not sure where to start, or what would be the cheapest or easiest route to take to figure out what exactly is wrong.
Anyone have any thoughts for me? If you need more info to help me with the problem then please let me know.

could be the chip on the key is wearing out and the vats is kicking in or the vats in the switch is messing up. theres a write up on vats in the fax and tech in the 4th gen section.
well if it is vats u have a couple options. u will need to test the key to find out how many ohms it is so u will know what code the system is. the security system identifies the key by the amount of ohms resestance there is between the two connections on each side of the key were the little bumps are at about half way mark on the key. there are 15 different codes. if u dont have a extra key u could try a new one. i got one off ebay for 10 bucks and took it to the local hardware and had em cut it using the key i had. it may or may not be the key is worn and wont connect. could be the ignition conections for the key are worn.
u could get a vats bypass like this.

u could replace the ignition
u could have the security programed out of the ecu
