If the battery is dead, do I loose the codes?

The title really says it all, you can skip the next paragraph if you want to. (But we both know that you won't).
Last year me and my dad bought a 95 LT1. The car is in good shape and runs perfectly, but it has a few minor problems. There is a good foot of snow on the ground, so the car has been in the garage for a while. There is a slow leak in one of the tires, so about a month ago I opened the door to plug an air compressor into the cigarette lighter, and I noticed that the dome lights didn't come on, the battery was completely dead. The main problem I want to tackle now is the ABS inop light. If it is a bad sensor or cable running to the sensor, then now would be a good time to fix it. 3 of the rims are coming off to have the tires replaced or patched before spring (I'm thinking i can fix it myself if its just a cable). If I've browsed through these forums correctly, scanning the codes should reveal if it is a bad sensor. I could borrow a scanner from a mechanic down the street, but with the battery dead for about a month, I don't know if I'd be wasting my time. If the codes are gone, I'd probably have to drive around to get them back, and that isn't an option right now. If I borrow the scanner, will the codes still be there? Thanks!

as far as i know unhooking the battery will clear the trouble codes. make sure all three of your brake lights are working. weve had a couple on here were the brake light was messing with the abs.

I'll wait until spring and drive it around before I get the scanner then. I read that about the break lights a few days ago, and I hooked a booster pack up to the car to check it. It looks like they are all working, but I was alone and just looking at the light on the back wall (I poped the trunk to check the third set). I remeber the ABS light not coming on until the car started moving, and it's also missing the tracton control relay under the hood. I'm thinking it was pulled out for a reason though, as the fog light relay is still there, and the car didn't have fog lights when we got it (They were missing, so I grabbed a set on ebay). Is there any reason why the relay would have been pulled?
