If you're wanting resale value don't do an engine swap. Sell your car and purchase a new Camaro if you're thinking resale value.

true, the value of the car will go up from where it is. but here is what you have to understand:

dont think of it as the motor bringing up the value of the car. think of it as the car bringing down the value of the motor. an ls9 in crate is going to be worth more than one installed in a 4th gen camaro. you will lose money on the install.

so you want to spend 21k plus, just to resell it for 8 or 9 grand ?

youre better off trying to get a 2010 camaro, who knows if there will be a 2011

Well what I was thinking was that by dropping the new LS9 motor in the car I would turn around and sell it for 35,000 and use the motor as a selling point. I would use the fact that the motor is in the new ZR1 Corvette Which is close to $100,000. Or trade the car for something of value equal to $35,000 I and my buddies can do the motor swap our selfs a friend of my is trying really hard to get me an LS1 motor cheap for the car. Not only that the LS9 has a 50,000 mile 24 month warranty which is another selling point about the car and that it would be one of a kind, but the more I think about it the less likely the chance of me doing it

Um not trying to bust your bubble but you could build one heck of a LSX for the price of a LS9. I mean you could easily build a NA 600HP 4XX CI engine for about 10,000 giving that you are paying for labor and parts.

Dropping a LS9 into any car is a quick way to lose a lot of money. Sure it would be bad %$# but no one is going to pay for the cost of the car plus 35,000 your droping into the engine.

i can not express to you how DUMB of an idea this is. there is absolutely NO WAY you could sell your car for 35 grand just because of that motor being in it. i would say the ls9 motor is more for someone with say a 1st gen and wants to make it even more awesome than it already is. not a car worth 5 grand at the most. again...DUMB idea

oh yeah...you'd probably need a stronger tranny for that kind of horsepower and good luck keeping that 10 bolt in one piece...DUMB

No way you can get $35,000 for a 96 Camaro with an LS9 in it. The LS9 is not the reason the ZR1 is $100,000. The ZR1 has the largest brakes of any street vehicle, an amazing suspension, it's a Corvette, it's mostly carbon fiber, it's a Corvette, it has a much nicer interior, it's newer, did I mention it's a Corvette?

Here's a fact for you: in aftermarket modifications you NEVER get the money out of them you put in when you attempt to resell the car, this goes for performance or visual. Modifications are for you to enjoy, not to make the value of the car increase over the cost of the modification. End of story.

these guys are right. it would be an awesome build, but nobody will pay 35k for that build. like i said, the car will bring down the value of the motor. if you drop a 20k motor in there, expect to sell it for 13-15k installed. chances are because most people will want to rip it back out and put it in something else
