Question I don't think this is right!

So now that I have my motor on a stand and can check everything the fir thing that did not seem right was the way the intake manifold fits to the block and heads, I know that there must be rtv applied to the bottom at the front and and back but take a look at this and let me know it this in normal. Thanks guys!

It seems that the Intake is abit shorter?!?!?!?!?

Normal your gasket locks in on the edges.

The valve cover gasket? or do I have to place rtv on the edge?

My friend's 3.4 has a flush intake and head. Not sure why yours is like that other than maybe a bad gasket job, or the heads off a newer 3.4. Get the numbers off the heads and check with GM or a machine shop to see if you have the right heads for your engine. The 2.8, 3.1 and 3.4 all had the same design of head and block.

Slick why do you have two filters? just curious, and when I removed the covers there was rtv in place on these points to fill the gap I suppose. I removed the cork gaskets and this is what was there, so I will be getting a full upper gasket kit and I will see what happends then....

Ok so this is an update to new problem thats "Not right"!!?!?!?!?!

So i have my motor on the stand and want to do the fron side gaskets, now I have the water pump removed but I need to remove the crank pulley and harmonic balancer. SO i have removed the main crank bolt and there is oil on the bolt and sitting in the hole. Now I cant get the pulley off the balancer because my motor is open at the moment and wants to spin, i've tried an impact but it just dosent want to break free, these bolts are the only thing keeping me from replacing the seals and sleeve. Help please?!?!?!?!

You can Put the "fly wheel" back on and have someone wedge a screw driver through a hole to the back of the block while you take the crank bolt off.

need to know what it is your wanting for a finished product. in your other thread your saying a rebuild and here its just a intake gasket. you got the motor out at the least replace the head gaskets. it sounds like someone has done that already and not correctly, who knows what else was done or why. could be a thick head gasket was used to compensate for a slightly warped head. i would be checking main and rod bearings at the least as well. if you have a bad bearing or one ready to go then you will be right back here in a short time. and that goes on to the next which is how much money you able/willing to fork out?

Craby I am doing a rebuild, just a plain rebuild. I have checked the bearring and all the lower crank components, also followed the book for rocker adjustment and the guides for checking things. I am currently having an issue with afew sheared bolts and need to order parts for the install, other than that the motor seems fine just old
