Why do you need to go faster? Find a Camaro owner near you who has HPTuners, and have them fix it. Or maybe a dyno shop can tune it out for you. If you can't afford a tuner, then you probably can't afford a wreck from 120+, so be careful.

If you don't have "Z" rated tires the speed limiters is on the ECM for that reason. The stock "H" rated tires are only good for speeds up to 115MPH. So leave it alone.

Is it easy to tell the rating of your tires? Is it listed somewhere? And if you get new ones on, how is the computer changed? I am guessing it has to be done at the Chevy dealer right?

As far as I know, there's only 1 way to do this. The governer is in the computer so you can either take it to a dyno shop, like it did, and he'll tune it out, or you buy a self programmer and do it yourself. Really your only options if you want your car to go faster. Upgrade your tires if you do this too to be safe.

Jigen: The speed rating is the letter in your tire's size, for instance my tires are a 275/40/ZR17, 275 cm wide, 40% of 275 cm tall, speed rating Z, R-radial, 17" rim.
armynatguard18: It's possible to go faster, but that probably means your car isn't governed from the factory, wich means it came with Z rated tires. They were an option that you could order when you got the car. So, 1993-1997 came with S rated tires and were governed at 108 mph, 98+ came with T rated and were governed at 115 or you could pay more and get Z rated tires from the factory in which case your speed rating is 149 mph+ so the cars are not governed at all.
