ive never heard of auto lights turning on because of shade (im not calling you a liar) but why is this such a bad thing i wish i had auto headlights i love that they take a min to shut off at night that way id be able to see my front door at 230 in the am instead of trying to use a lighter to make sure i get my key in the door right and when i drop the keys damn thats a nightmare (my house is really dark at night)

auto lights meaning all the exterior lights turn on (headlights, tail lights, parking markers ect.) I do not need them on during the day and since I park under a car port they turn on of course because im in the shade, its bad enough I have a battery/Charging problem that im trying to hunt down. and besides they dont come on until I put the car in 1st or Reverse so that wouldnt help you with finding anything before getting in the car.

No, they can. My Impala does it on a fairly regular basis. If you can get your hands on the wiring diagram for the system, it should be fairly easy to find a way to disable it.
On the other hand, on the W body side, you need a special harness to disable the auto on without triggering some interesting codes; I wonder if it's the same setup.

i was planning on just hooking up a light of some sort and point at the sensor, might jsut keep my lights off when the switch is off like it should in the first place. My mother in law has a 03 altima and her car gives her the option to use manual or auto for the lights.
