DO NOT PRESSURE WASH IT!! It's the fastest way to the death of an opti. If you want to clean it up a bit you're best bet is probably going to be some 409 and some time with a sponge. I'm probably going to do the same thing to mine when I have it appart doing top-end work. You can also use dish-washing soap thinned with water because it's made to cut grease as well. Just be careful not to get anything dripping down the front of the motor and you should be good.

Get some foaming engine degreaser and just cover any open electronics and your air filter with bags. Stuff works great but after that 409 and a sponge like was stated. An old STIFF toothbrush is nice to have as well.

I've washed my engine plenty of times with no problem (knock on wood) however I did have an issue once and it ended up being the rubber washer that protects the connections in the opti from corrosion was worn out. Replaced and no rpoblems since. I do stay away from the opti when cleaning the engine bay but if water goes there then so far I haven't had any issues other that the one time. I usually shove a towel down there so soak up any water that gets in that area. Never can be too sure.
