HELP! (dash pad)
Hey all. I'm in the middle of replacing my broken dash pad with a new GM pad. The new pad has foam underneath and the original broken pad has no foam attached but has a layer of insulation with a rubber top. do i still use that or is the new foam on the piece supposed to replace that? Help, I'm not sure where to find the answer and need to finish today.
Thanks

Not quite sure what you are refering to here. I have taken these dash pads out before and there is a foam rubber material behind the vinyl outer covering. Now if you see any foam like styrofoam then it is just there to hold the shape of the cover while in shipping and storage.

The factory dash pad has two elements: The hard plastic and a layer of rubber coated insulation (between plastic and metal dash).
The new piece has has a foam insulation attached to the underside of the hard plastic cover.
so i'm wondering if they improved the design and stuck them together or if it's added insulation to be combined with the old.
Does that help?
