for the motor to go to 1500 rpms idling at operating temp then it should be a good sized leak. u could get some carburator cleaner and while the motor is running spray some on the hoses/places were there could be a leak. (dont get carried away) if the idle changes u found the problem. im beginning to think its in the thottle position sensor or the thottle body is set wrong. i had to set my idle up to get it to go down. i had the idle screw on the throttle body set to low so it was not letting enough air to the intake and the computer was adjusting for it by opening the idle air control valve all the way but the air fuel mix was still to rich making the high idle. i could hear the air sucking threw the iac really loud but thought it was normal. it took me a month to figure it out.

u should get a factory service manual for your yr and model. heres what they look like. this one is a little on the high side for price so u may find one for less.

i dont like using the after-market books, they include a bunch of models and years and dont cover near as well as the factory book. the factory book is like four inches thick and covers diagnosing problems like the one u have.

Pull your intake hose off the throttle body and stick your fingers over the openings that are in front of the throttle blade. If the idle drops down to a more normal speed, it's your IAC valve that's bad.
