On my initial start in the Morning, mine idles around that for a few minutes.

Is this the after driving it for a few minutes?

granted i have a z28 5.7, from a cold start idles at around 1000rpm till it heats up then drops down to around 600rpm.

1500 seems kind of high to me. check your IAC valve & motor, there's been a lot of this going around lately seems like. if its all carboned up simply clean it off and you should be idling normally. if not, then im not sure.
