so this would mean that the only options I have are buying a replacement ECM or getting a cheap performance module?

No the computor can be re-flashed, but you need the correct software, and I am not sure whats avalible for the V6. Honestly if you don't have any serioud mods (ie heads, bigger cam, increased cubes or some kind of forced indution) a tune/chip/re-flash will not get you much hp at all.

Your year model Camaro does not allow people to replace the PROM. It is equipped with RePROM, meaning that the PCM can be tuned by means of a performance tuner or performance shop. So yes, a reprogramming is what you would have to do. There are many websites that offer reprogramming, so check into it.

that actually explains alot. I had heard rumors about my car and what he had done to it, but he had told me no performance chip or anything like that. The car has to have been dyno tuned. There's no other way that I could beat some of the Z28s around here. LT1s of course.

awh c'mon, cut him some slack, at least he asks before he does instead of getting a dyno tune and saying he can beat Z28's!

How's the LT4 conversion by the way?
