Default Gas in oil problem

okay, have plenty of questions, and not many answers yet.
I have a 93 Camaro z28, this car has been sitting for a while now, fixing little bits here and there.

i recently changed the head gaskets, and O rings on the injectors because the injectors were leaking. after changing the O rings on the injector i also drained a bit of the oil because it was too full, and when i drained it, i notice a strong smell of gasoline was in the oil. could this have been from the leaking injectors? or do i have a bigger problem? i drained the oil but didn't fill it back up yet. i might do it in the next couple days when i have time to fix it again. also, my starter wasn't working for a while, and i thought it was lack of gas flow so i turned my key to the acc position a bunch to hear the fuel pump work and turned it onto the on position to see if the car would start, would this have caused the gas to go into the oil? by some kind of overfill?

also i have black fluid coming from my exhaust. and its creating alot of white smoke, as if the head gasket was blown, but no water in oil. people told me my car was running rich, but isn't it suppose to be black? instead of white?

anyone knows whats wrong with my ride?

it will show as white in the exhaust but black on the sides of the exhaust, plugs and 02 sensors. so if u have been running rich it will foul your 02 sensors causing the motor to run rich. u can clean them by taking them out and heating the sensor end with a propane torch, this gets the black carbon off. change the oil and filter right away. clean the 02s and run it for a day then check the oil to make sure its not reeking of gas. it may still smell a little but any leftover gas should turn to vapor once the motor is brought up to operating temp for a extended time. if your are still getting gas into the oil it will continue to smell bad of gas. add to this,,, check fuel pressure regulator. pull the vacuum hose off and see if theres gas in it. check the evap system. heres a link its a sticky at the top of the lt1 section, https://camaroforums.com/forum/lt1-lt4-tech-9/testing-evap-system-51219/ check the fuel pressure to make sure its not to high, while your doing this check to see if u have a bad/leaky injector. i have taken the injector rack off, lifting it up and setting carboard pieces under the injectors to hold it up and let me see if there leaking.this is done leaving it hooked up. then turn the key on and let it pressure up. if u have fuel coming out of an injector then its in need of cleaning or replacement.

OK I am going to go in no particular order on answering this.

Black water coming out of the exhaust and the white smoke is no biggy for now. Your hot exhaust creates condensation in it when you turn your engine off. The black water is just the water being pushed out and picking up the carbon as it exits the pipes. The white smoke is just steam and this is normal until the engine and pipes heat up fully. If it keeps up well after the engine is warm then it could be a head gasket.

If you are getting gas in the oil I can only think of one thing and that is your engine is getting flooded. On a FI engine the way this happens is cycling the key on and off and having an injector leaking or stuck open. The fuel will enter the engine the first time the intake valve opens and then leak through the rings down into the oil. This is the most common way but not the only way. Also the pump should not work with the key in the acc position, but work in the on/run position.

Oh and the O rings will not stop an injector leaking fuel into the intake but will help seal the vacuum seal on the intake manifold. They will seal the fuel at the rail but not inside the intake. If you are leaking at the pintle of the injector you will need to replace them. To test this you will need to have them bench tested by an injector specialist.

Hope this helps

A blown head gasket does not necessarily result in water in the oil, it usually causes water in the combustion chamber. Did you have the heads resurfaced before replacing the gaskets? When head gaskets blow, it is usually due to warped heads.

Leaky injectors can result in gas getting into the oil; however, changing the O rings on the injectors is not going to solve the problem. The injector itself is the problem, and it may either need cleaning or replacement. Also a misfire condition can cause unburnt fuel to wash through the rings and into the oil pan, damaging the cylinder wall, rings, and diluting the oil which can cause bearing damage.

Thanks for the replies on my post guys, i have changed the oil, and ran it for about 15 minutes, did not have a chance to smell the oil yet, but the smoke out of the tail pipe isn't as bad as before, it is alot lighter now. i will replace both the 02 sensors and run it some more, i think the exhaust pipe just have too much build up in it, is there a way i can clean that out besides driving it out? i put a sock over a pool stick and used it like a Q-tip to wipe the inside of the tailpipe after it was warmed up, it was really really dirty, but it should be clean anways..right? just look like it was a bit more dirty then it should be.

I'll keep you guys posted about anything else, THANK YOU GUYS!!
