unless your foot is on the floor the hole time your gas mileage should be about the same if not better than a v6...i love to listen to my exhaust so im usually in a lower gear around town and i still get 20 mpg around town, ive had a best of 31mpg on the highway in my z28...

I looked on my window sticker of my 95 Z28 and the EPA tested it at 17 mpgcity and 26 mpg highway. I average about 13 in the city with a somewhat heavy foot and 26 on the highway in 6th gear. My good friend drives an 98 V6 camaro and gets 32 mpg on the highway. I would say the extra 100 hp is worth the decreased fuel mileage though.

im lookin to get a camaro. i really want a z28 but people are telling me it will get terrible gas mileage which would force me to get a v6. can you guys give me an idea of how it is on gas with or without mods and performance parts
I think you meant to log onto the hondaforums.com.

Honestly, who buys a z28 for the gas mileage?

i get 27 mpg on highway. I have a 97 z28 auto. trading it for a 97 z28 6speed both 30th's. i wouldnt buy a v6 to save my life. i drive a 95 accord for my daily beater. i get 35 mpg highway with it. my camaro is sadly a garage kept car. ionly put 1500 miles on it last year.

My stock 2001Z-28 6-speedhit 28 MPG on a recent road-trip. I was going an average of 75 MPH. Around town, if I keep the RPMs under 1500 I can easily break 20 MPG. but with my driving and unavoidable Houston traffic,I typically see 17 MPG or so.

If you are asking about gas milage then obviously it matters. If you are going to the track and want a daily, then forget the v6 you will be walked all day long by the V8's then wish you would have gotten one. Gas milage on a STOCK LS1 is about 26-28mpg on high way 19-21 city. But the second you start driving it hard, there goes your mpg's. If you put aCam and gears, you can floor it and practically see your needle go down. The LS1's get decent mpg's IF you shift between 1500-1700rpm's and drive all the time on the highway.

But as mentioned by people who actually KNOW, gas should be the furthest thing from your mind when hopping into a V8.
