Gas gauge help.

Default Gas gauge help.

On my 95 camaro, my gas gauge is stuck up at F. When i am about to run out it falls to E. Can any body help me out here.

sounds like the sending unit is failing. may be worth it to jack it up and support with stands and get under there to check out the wires and the connector. let us know what you find either way and we'll go from there.

Like Craby said it is usually the sender that causes this. The wires can get hot from the fuel pump and will from time to time melt the connector. Most of the higher end fuel pumps like the Airtex and Carter will come with a new harness to replace the old one with. Unfortunatly the new sender only comes with a pump and that will run you around $250. It is not a hard job to do but I believe unless you cut an access hole you will be needing to drop the rear axle to drop the tank.

would this same problem cause my gas gauge to be thrown off?...if I fill my talk it stays on full for days then starts comming down...when it gets down to about half a tank its empty

My sending units fine- I just top her off after XX miles depending on what kind of driving I do- almost everyone around here in the dust bowl of TX with a Camaro has the same issue..

+1 for SE Texas. My trip odometer serves as my fuel gauge below 1/2 a tank.
