Default funny thing when asking a question at a car dealer

To i got tired of driving by this like home owned car lot so i decided to stop and get the number and called them. First off when the guy answered the phone sounded so redneck i about busted out laughing.

So I proceeded to ask him how much he was was wanting for his 90ish black z28 and he told me 3500 i was like thats kinda high (trying to talk him down in price) and he was like ummm no its got a super cool motor in it a LT1 motor and he was the motor alone is worth 3000. So i proceeded to ask if i had a down payment would he do payments. He was like ummm no this car is to powerful i dont need someone to get in it and wreck it. so i just hung up the phone.

Is 3500 for this car worth paying for it?

Is a LT1 worth 3000 and if it is it makes me think other problems with the car cause i would be paying for the motor and 500 for the car

If it's a 97 with 50k miles on it, $3,500 is one heck of a deal. If it's a 93 with 300k miles on it, that's no deal at all. You aren't giving enough information for anybody to give an accurate assessment.

The only LT1 worth 3K is one that has been built with most of the GM parts replaced. I paid just one 1K for a LT1 motor with 32,000 miles on it.

$3500 is about retail for Z28 in good working order turn key and ready to go but as Camaro 69 said there is a lot of variation based on mileage and year along with options and conditions.

The only way that car is worth $3500 is if it maintained by a really great owner. Even then we are talking retail value, I never pay retail.

FYI I would not finance any car with 180k on it. NOT because I was worried you would wreck it but because I would be worried if it was driven really hard you could blow the motor and fry the trans in a weekend. Anytime you finance a car full coverage insurance is required so if you wreck it you just pay it off. If he was holding the title your insurance company would know that and send him the check.

So the dealer has two stikes: A clueless remark about a motor worth 3K and BSing about why he would not finance it. Just keep looking no deal here

Near me, Z28's of that year and price range (and below) have less than 100k miles on them. Keep shopping.

Like we said early we do not know this car. You could find out is has a dealer installed replacement motor and trans that still has a GM warranty on them or it coud be a flood car that has been "repaired" or something in between.

ok let me explain this better this is not a normal dealership its a redneck on the side of the road who has 3 vehicles for sale and 1 of them is the camaro of reference we drove by tuesday and it was raining out and when i drove past i had noticed the window was still open. now if this is a flood car he is taking very poor care of it. I know I know maybe he forgot but he didnt that window has been open for a while.

I know yall dont know the car obviously every car is different i was just asking if a camaro z28 with high mileage is worth 3500. As i said before im not trying to get ripped off thats why i said ill try to post pics of it when i get a chance.

Pics are hard to get as of my current residence condition this car is over an hour and a half away from where im at and gas is not cheap. But i will get pics so yall can better assess this car
