Default Fuel Line Removal

hey, so i got a step by step instruction for dropping the engine. been working on disconnecting things. the fuel lines are not moving. according to the instruction i have been using, i am supposed to get a 3/8"s fuel line disconnector. what is this and is there a way to use something else?

I have had no luck getting the fuel lines off without the tool. You can buy them at any auto parts store for about $10. Get the metal ones and don't waste your money on the plastic ones. Also, make sure to bleed off any pressure before you disconnect and don't let anyone sit in the drivers seat and think they are going to listen to the radio and shoot fuel across the garage when they turn the key on!

alright will do. already bled fuel pressure out. surprisingly, after sitting for almost three months, there was none.

This tool spreads apart and goes around the fuel line. The tapered end will slide in and release 3 prongs that are holding the line onto the fuel rail. All 3 have to be released at the same time in order for the line to slip off the raised connection of the fuel rail.

had visions of pulling out the sawzall and cutting the lines....

If you get one, I find it easier to remove the line if I push line towards the fuel rail before I push on the tool.
