Default Flickering lights

Every light on my 99Z28 from the head lights to the dome light flicker. Alternator checked good, but I,m thinking weak diodes or ground problem. Already checked the ground aspect, but may have missed a spot.

check your battery terminals and make sure they are clean and tight. my girls car did the same thing. 10 feet later it lost all power. the little bolt was loose by one flat. it was enough to cause that

also check and clean the wire ends at the power junction box (little red plastic box on the passenger wheelwell by battery) check the fuse in the fuse box and see if its not getting a good connection. also pull the plug for the light switch off and check for corroding or poor connection.

Thanks for the information. I have done most of those connection checks, but will do again just to make sure. Ground issues are funny that way.

i think there is a ground behind the kick pad by the driver left foot. three on the motor, one by the starter, one behink the idler and one on the driver side front. there is also a ground junction by the power junction that could need attention.

My 98 3800 II started doing this last night.

I won't have a chance to mess with it until after class, But hopefully it is something simple.

EVERYTHING has that flicker to it and it is driving me crazy.

How exactly can I test the alternator?

Thanks in advance Guys, Blasko

Also, Best of luck to you Neff for your car.

Autozone can test your alternator. I dunno how you would do it yourself though

oh yeah my gauge lights do the same at night when i turn on the a/c when the fog lights, headlights, and music are on.
Is it just that a/c uses a lot of power and makes the current weak and my alt. cant keep up?
as soon as i turn off the a/c everything is fine.

The only test you can do yourself on the alterator is voltage unless you have a clamp style amp tester on your multimeter. Best test is auto parts store that will most likely do it for free. They can test the alterantor with a load on it. The electrical system on these electronically controlled autos is very reliant on steady current from the alterantor.

The first Thing that came to my head was my Alternator.
Mine only does this at idle, or at low RPM when cruising.

If your idling and you rev it they quit until RPMs come back down.
I'll have my alternator tested and get back to ya'll

Neff, Do yours almost strobe?
Mine look like a strobe light between dim and bright.
