FIRST POST!!
hey guys, I just bought a 1987 camaro iroc-z28 with a 350ci motor and some little goodies. Just wondering what you guys think would be a good start gearing wise, and if there are any little things i should know about this car.. What kind of 0-60 and 1/4 mile times should i be seeing with this 350ci and edelbrock headers, flowmasters and dual stage clutch?? stock gearing

RE: FIRST POST!!
dual stage clutch? that means it is a 5 spd. the 3rd gen camaro didn't come with a 5spd and a 5.7 (350) the T5 could not hold the torque if the 5.7. if it has a 5spd it is a 5.0 (305) or had a 350 put in. if it does have a 5.7 and a 5 spd be careful because the T5 trans will not hold up if you abuse it even alittle bit. you can get a WCT5 (world class T5) thqat will hold the power but they are getting expensive and hard to find worth using.....good luck with the new car and welcome to F-Bodies

RE: FIRST POST!!
if it still has the the TPI the first place i would start is raising fuel pressure a couple lbs. i have seen the 5.7 TPI go from 245hp to 275 with JUST a fuel pressure change. then go on to headers and a performance exhaust, the CAI , prom chip , underdrive pulley and so on and so on....

RE: FIRST POST!!
rear gears help in most any performance application. and yes if you car has a regular T5 it will break with very little abuse, that's why they never used it behind the 5.7 from the factory. the 89-92(i think , may be 90) trans was a WCT5 which will hold alot more Torque before it starts having issues. the 5.7 TPI engines respond well to bolt ons but the draw back to the TPI is it was designed for the 5.0 and will not flow enough air for anthing over about 5200rpm. the way to go is with a Accel T-Ram( hard to find) or the Holley Stealth Ram made for TPI engines. the TPI engines also had a SORRY camshaft from the factory. with a cam change , the holley stealthram , a good performance exhaust (with headers), a WCT5 and some 373's you should have no problem running with a LS1 car.
