Fender Out Of Place
Not sure if i am in correct spot to post, But i took my car to have the coil over shocks installed and didnt notice until i got home that my front fender on passenger side was out of place, moved out like 1/4 inch. worse on the bottom. Went back to shop where they put shocks on and denied any fault at all. sure wish i had looked on that side before i left, anyways everything feels tight when i try to push in, and when looking from bottom cant see anything out of place. anybody have any suggestions, 1999 camaro.

theres a bolt on the inside of the fender, you can see it when you open the door, check to see if that maybe whats tweaked.

The garage jacked up your car wrong. The is a tab on the bottom of the fender if you look under the fender you the side with the issue your going to see it is bent or pushed up. compare it to the other side. It is real simple to do because the fender expends pass the support they are supose to use. It the lift are is just a little off ou end up with a tweaked fender.
I would take it back to the shop. Attachment 16655 |

Remove those two bolts, straighten the metal mount bracket till the fender fits right again, re-install the bolts.
Won't take long, just a hassle you shouldn't have to deal with. Gonna be tough to prove the shop did it, even though you know they did. |

Since most everybody has an "it wasn't me" attitude, it's to the point where you practically have to have the shop owner document the condition of your car when you drop it off.
That's how you c.y.a. when you rent a car, point out and write down any nicks, dings, or flaws that are already there before you take it. |
when i worked at costco in the tire shop we documented everything, scratches, dents missing centercaps/hubcaps. id walk around the car and write it down, than the supervisor/manager would go around and double check. youd be surprised with the BS people accuse you of doing to there cars.

Yeah, that kind of goings on does go both ways.

A lot of people are looking to get something for nothing.

On my end the place wasnt a chain establishment like discount tires etc.
It was a small garage 2 people working there. I should have looked at passenger side when i picked car up but didnt. Any time in the future i will for sure. |
I guess they are saying they did not do it? Of course they are liable for anything they do but you have no proof. A good garage would except the fact there was a good chance it happend on their lift if you picked up the car 24 hours ago and it looked like lift damage.
I had a moron cross thread a center cap lock so bad he ruid the Key. He tried to say the key was like that when he got it. He's problem was he was putting together the last bolt. A bolt he took off with the same key. Lucky for me there was NO way he could get back together and hide the damage. They paid me $150 for the rim and key. I heil coiled the rim and regound the key, cost me a $1.50 and about any hour. |

Good deal, and you're welcome. Depending on how badly it's tweaked, you can sometimes get away with just bending both together without unbolting the fender. Unbolting the fender is safer, if you had cracked it you would have blamed me! ;)
