Factory speaker sizes

Hey anyone know off the top of their head what the factory speaker sizes are for a 1994 Camaro 3.4L (non bose system)?

Chaotic94 Jun 11, 2011 03:35 PM

They're 6.5" front and back.

Sorry but do you happen to know what the difference is between bose and non-bose factory speakers....size,etc..?

3800camaro Jun 15, 2011 07:30 AM

The Bose is a six speaker system and have the Bose speakers.

Chaotic94 Jun 15, 2011 05:31 PM

^Also has a different factory head unit.

Do you know the sizes of the speakers for the bose system? Sorry I ask because I bought my 94 Camaro pre-owned and the previous owner gutted the sounds. So I have no factory head unit and no speakers. Im planning on replacing the sounds so I need to know what size speakers to buy that will fit.

6.5" in the doors and 6.5" beside either rear seat for factory Bose/Non-Bose/Monsoon systems. And by the way, you were given false information if I'm not mistaken. The Bose system was a 5-speaker system. Not a 6-speaker system. Monsoon had the 6-speaker system with the extra speakers on either side of the hatch. The Bose system only has one extra speaker on the driver's side of the hatch

So 6.5" all around (excluding the sub) in both bose and non bose systems? Thanks for your help

Yes that is correct. You are welcome :)
And I must add a recommendation on speakers. I have RE Audio speakers in my car and they're beyond anything else I've ever heard. The clarity and sound quality is mind blowing. They're ranked above JL Audio, but they're an off-brand that hardly anyone knows about. Here's a link to where I got mine. This site is legit. Great prices and fast shipping. Mine are running straight from the head unit and are still insanely loud.
RE Audio RE65FR 6-1/2", FR Series 2-Way Coaxial Car Speakers
Don't be skeptical because of the low price. In this case, you get way more than you pay for. Mine have been in my car for a year now and they get full volume pushed through them every time I'm in my car.

Another thing to think about is that these speakers won't push a lot of bass. You might want to look into a sub and amp. I'll go ahead and recommend these. My friend has this set up in his car because of my and it sounds phenomenal! He drives a 2000 Firebird. So the sound will be about the same as far as the sub goes.

Kenwood KAC-8104D 1000W Max, Class D Monoblock Amplifier

Now you're sitting there thinking "Well that sub is only 300 continuous watts"... Well guess what? It will out pound an Alpine type R any day of the week if your box is sealed correctly. :) Good luck with the speakers and let us know how everything goes

The type r will pickup lows better than that re. I love re audio also but they are far from the best. As far as those re 6.5 go don't think they can't pickup mid bass its just our cars that don't pickup good Midbass. Insulate the rear speakers by stuffing some foam into the the rear speaker holes and then for the door panel speakers get some sound sound deadner to cover any holes in the door panel to create a better midbass. You should get some way better response. As far as the amp only being 300 watts that's rms. That's true power which if you rate it by max power which means absolutely nothing it would be 1200 watts. This is how lanzar,Kenwood, audiobahn, and most cheap brands rate their amps. This is why most people get disappointed when it doesn't get that loud. It is also why people always ask why does a Kenwood 1000 watt amp cost 250ish and and a fosgate cost triple that. Well the fosgate will actually play that power all day long while the kenwood only plays a fraction. When I had my 2 12 hx2s and a bd1000 at 1ohm pushing 1800rms in a sealed box it sounded louder and a ton better than my uncles navigator with 2 15 hx2 and 2 bd1000 pushing 3100rms In a ported box because the come hatch makes a big difference and I mean BIG!!!
