Default engine stalls sometimes

98 v6 5 speed 3800l camaro. Runs great except when I slow down for a stop sign or red light, the engine stalls sometimes. I cleaned the throttle body and WD40 all the springs and linkages to the throttle body. New fuel filter, and fuel pump works o.k. Any suggestions?

IAC valave comes to mind, and possibly the TPS sensor.

There are no moving parts in the intake manifold to malfunction. But, make sure to release the clutch when coming to a stop.

Hi friend,

I own a '93 Camaro V6. I have the same problem that you, and reviewing the manual, I was checking all the electrical connections of the engine.

I did note, that the knock sensor connector cable is in really bad shape and I think that here is the problem.

Best Regards!

It was the IAC module. The IAC module sensor had a black residue on it. I cleaned it off and it helped but eventually I replaced the IAC module and it's fixed. Is this common for a 12y old car with 110,000 miles?

Probably all junked up with carbon like mine was. I cleaned mine and it works great but sometimes depending on how much junk is on there you can fry it and it wont respond at all. My sensor was good but the actual IAC motor was gunked up.

I'd say it's pretty common, my 94's got 63k miles and it was gunked up enough to mess with my idle by 500rpms.

If thats the case, could the engine have carbon build up too? What kind of cleaner can I use to get rid of the carbon build up inside the engine?
