engine cutting out, help appreciated
I was just wondering ifthis is normal for theLT1's, or is this something that I can fix. What's happening is when im accelerating hard, my engine will be running great and smooth till 4000RPM or so, and then it runs somewhat choppy, its more noticiable in lower gears that you get through quicker. The car will cut in and out (not real severe, but there's some obvious power loss) all the way til I shift @ 5200 or so. Not only is the sound noticable, but you can feel the car jerking and bucking slightly as the engine cuts in and out. Also, it can't be the rev limiter(maybe...lol), because I set my rev limiter with the hyptertech tuner to 5700rpm. Any suggestions or clues as to might what be wrong(and how to fix it) would be awesome.
For the record, my maro is a 1996 Z28 6M, only "mods" done are NGK plat plugs, Hyptertech computer tune, and a K&N intake.
P.S. I'm not a mechanic, so sorry for my non mechanical description of the problem.

RE: engine cutting out, help appreciated
Misfire is more prone to happen at high RPM than low RPM. At high RPM the system has less time to recover & recharge between sparks, and the cylinder pressure is higher making the fuel harder to ignite. Get rid of the NGK plugs and put in a set of OEM Ac's and take a good look at the plug wires. The LT1 is known for baking the wires. Get the coil, and ignition module tested. If all looks OK then it probably be the Opti, but you want to make sure. So, change the fuel filter, and check the fuel pressure and pressure regulator with a proper gage first.

Billy, the LTs don't have a typical distributor mounted at the rear of the engine. The opti-spark takes the place of the dist. and is mounted in front of the engine just below the waterpump. It's real fun to change if you ever need to.
