any body know if you can run E85 with out any thing special in an LT-1

It takes roughly 30% more fuel to run E85, so you need to be able to supply 30% fuel through the whole throttle range. Is that enough of an answer?

So No you can not, if you make the mods to be able to supply more fuel, then with a new tune you can. I know there is some over on ls1lt1 that are playing with the exact tune, or you may be able to find other places people are tuning cars to run on it. A lot of people are building engines specfic to run it since E85 needs more heat and is higher octane so can run higher compression and/or more boost.

 

im not a being a smart ***, i answered your question - no E85 in an LT1.
besides, there was no way you needed to be so rude,
a simple "why not?" couldve worked.

anyway,
E85 has a lower AFR than normal gasoline.
and flex fuel cars can detect whether there is E85 or gasoline in the tank
so they adjust how much fuel is injected
because when the engine runs on E85
it uses more fuel.

and no i dont know what will break, but its just not a good idea.

 

Just stick to the high grade fuel. I love the stuff. Now I just need to get my hands on a few gallons of Sunoco 100+ octane fuel

 

well i heard that E85 is like 110 octane and i heard that the fuel lines wont support the e85 that it will eat at them the ethanol will and the injectors whould have to be bigger this is just a theory and im curious about it

but for some reason it takes a lot more of it to run
so even though its cheaper the reduced gas mileage will probably off set the money you save
why do you wanna run it anyway, just curious

If you're going to build an LT1, E85 is not the way to go. 93+ Octane should be all you need.
