I think you're just seeing a phase, part of which is due to the season.
We are in uncharted waters here. It is not very often that a car company drops a car line that has a large dedicated following. I think what we are seeing is the trickle down effect. The 4th gens where held in high value for years because they were the only option for a Camaro fan. I know of one guy that owned three 2002’s Each time he bought low miles garage kept car and used them as daily drivers. When I was looking at Camaros in 2008 I could fine 96-97 3.8/5 speed Mustangs for next to nothing yet a nice Camaro was still 5K.

My guess would be now there is a “new version” of Camaro it is only a matter of time before the 4th gens are in line with the same year Mustang.
For someone with not perfect credit it is a lot easier to buy a 40K new car then an 18K 10 year old car. This will drive the price of the higher end cars down. Even a 10K car can be hard to finance once it is over 10 years old. As you drive down the value of the upper end cars the lower end cars have to follow. If I can buy a nice LS1 for 7K why would I pay 5k for a LT1. If I can buy a LT1 for 3.5K why would I buy a V6 for 2.5K and so on.

I payed 1100 for '93 Z28 with an auto with two blown head gaskets. You got a STEAL on yours! Especially with the t-56. Those got for $1500-2000 by themselves.

Well hey, if the prices keep going down for the LS1's and I can get a wrecked on cheap and finally find a '82 Camaro, I'm gonna be a happy camper.

hay in the 70s you could get a nice 56 chevy for under 1k bucks, i paid 500 for a 69 chevelle. so the price will drop and they will sell to young fellas and they will wreck them in large numbers (like i did) then the nice ones wont be so numerous. then the 93 will be worth big bucks. lol. good plan right.

lol. If only it worked that way. The age of a car doesn't automatically qualify it for antique or collectible status.

In Pa it does. Antique plates can be gotten for a car over 25 years. Once the plates are issues insurance drops and inspection are no longer required. Course you do have driving limitations also

My 93 would not make because of the 2000 front clip.

Heh, heh, the State's don't know what makes a car an antique, they only go by years as a standard for their license plate program.
But that falsely makes car owners think their car is an "antique" when it isn't.

Well obviously it is about supply & demand, but you can always check:

New Car Prices, Used Car Values, New Car Reviews & Car Buying Guides - NADAguides.com Official Site
&
Official Kelley Blue Book Values You Can Trust From kbb.com - Kelley Blue Book

The former is what my Credit Union uses when determining value for a vehicle title loan...

Are you sure there's driving limitations? Our Satellite has antique plates and we still drive it whenever. Maybe cause we have it under Hagerty insurance? Gotta love the zero inspections.

Also, it'll be 7 years until a 93 can get antique plates in PA. I know because I was born in 93
