does this apply to us??
http://autos.yahoo.com/articles/auto...car-in-winter/
basically says we dont need to let the car warm up, just start and go. true? |
true but i run it easy till its up to temp.
i normally let it run till i see it start going past 100degs
As Craby said. Just go easy and keep revs low till it gets warm.
i do the same
but my car gets to about a 100-110 and stays there, all the time whats this mean??? and i hated how everything in that article was "according too... blah blah blah" |
hook a gage or test engine temp to see if gauge is right then make sure you have a thermostat and its working correctly.
yep always do, on a cold morning the first start sounds like teeth chattering sounds like lifters, but after a minute it goes away
Although it's not necessary to warm up the car first, I do for a few minutes in the winter. When it's extremely cold out, just getting in it and driving is going to make the inside of the windshield turn to ice, unless you hold your breath for five minutes. Plus, because of the wind chill effect, it does take longer for the heater to put out good heat if you drive right away.
I live in Alaska right now and I do the same as Camaro 69. It ain't necessary but its more comfortable when you jump in. An as everyone else said run it easy until it gets to normal operating temp.
I just use my remote start (which I have on 3 of my vehicles), and when I go out to go to work my windows are clear and it's warm and toasty. Some of the best money I've ever spent, and I'd have it on my other 2 vehicles if Bulldog made t-harnesses for them..lol
