i have a 93 camaro z28. i have been wanting to put a touch screen radio in my car, but as you know there is know way it will fit ( i dont want a flip up), has anybody customized the dash to make it a touch screen fit in the dash? i was thinking about trying to mold the dash to the center counsle. the only thing is is that im afraid to mess it up and then i have to go and find new parts to replace it. does anybody have pics or ideas on how i can do this. i do want to mension i am a very good fiberglass artist so i know i can make it work but i know its hard to find interior parts for this car. if anybody has any ideas i would appriciate it if shared. thanks

 

I always thought 4th Gens were double din. Lol seeing as how we need a dash kit to put an aftermarket single din in.

 

97+ is double din. 93-96 is single which sucks.

Have you thought about trying to get one to fit in the cassette/ cd holder?

 

Or pick up a center piece from the grave yard and modify it to fit a double din touch screen.

 

Idk why people like touchscreens. It's just one more distraction for the driver. I mean sure it has gps but every phone has GPS. I always believed they were put there to look pretty ;P

 

i have thought about that but i took a closer look and it is to small. im probably going to go to junk yard and hopefully find one thats the same and give it a shot. or what i was also thinking is replacing the whole dash to a 98 camaro dash. but i dont know if all the electrical will match up and i think the gauage cluster is a different shape. anybody have any other ideas.

I get tons of people that want to put a double din in their maro (me being one of them) and after i explain the amount of money and work involved they get a flip out. I haven't done one but one of the installers at another shop did and it dint come out to well. Fiberglass is your friend in this project.

 

there are quite a few companies that offer a completely fiberglass dash, might be something to look into if you're really good with 'glass, it should be easy to modify it to fit

I prefer If u keep the original system and connect to it digital music changer DMC,
any way I found this for u . keep in mined if the buttons lights better to be like the dash colors.
