Default cooling fans always on?

i never thought of this as odd but it seems like whenever my car is idling both fans are on, and its well, kinda loud

is this supposed to happen?

its not exactly loud it just sounds liek i have the A/C on full blast from outside the car and i actually dont even have it engaged at all

What is the temp when it is doing this? Have you checked the coolant level? How long does it have to idle before both fans come on?

the temperature is normal at all times

my coolant level is normal but the coolant itself most likely needs to be changed

and im assuming this isnt normal?

Depends on what the temp of the engine is. There is no air circulation through the radiator when the car is idling and that usually increases the coolant temp enough for the sensors to tell the computer to energize the fans.

The fans should be off on a cold engine. If they are on with a cold engine and AC off, look for modified wiring, bad relay (welded contacts), short to ground on control leads from PCM, or messed up PCM.

If your defrost is on, your fans will run.

a bad temp sensor would do it. test the sensor to see if its saying the car is hot.

Boy, are we a fickle lot. We complain when they don't run, we complain when they do... j/k

Phalen,

How do you like those halo projectors? Do they work well? And, where did you find them, if you don't mind me asking?
