Default Confused and getting pissed off.

Looking for a clutch to replace my blown out one. I've narrowed it down to two. I'm either going with a Monster stage 1 or doing the LS7 clutch upgrade. I'm leaning toward the LS7 clutch since it seems like it will handle what I need to and be a bit cheaper. The monster kit includes the flywheel, pressure plate, etc. the whole package for about 700 bucks. I've found an LS7 clutch and flywheel only for 418 bucks. While I'm tearing it down should I go ahead and get a new pressure plate, and all the or will just replacing the clutch and flywheel suffice. I'm no mechanic, especially when it comes to drive-trains, and am learning as I go and most of the research I do is passing over my head. I just need a little insight so I can fully grasp what I need. I'm not afraid to spend the money on what I need but at the same time I don't need a top of the line performance set up. This is a bone stock car that will be getting some exhaust, cam, head work, in the future, at the most. I'm eager to learn if and will gladly answer any questions you guys have to offer a recommendation.

A clutch change on the WS6 should be a breeze really like all RWD front trans vehicles. If the LS7 clutch upgrade is cheaper that would be a good route because it is an option that works. And good thing that you are changing your Flywheel because most don't. Question, are you going with a lightened flywheel or just another OEM one?? Lightened would be the best way for fast easy performance.

Yes change your pressure plate. Also change out your throw out bearings and release bearings.

Thanks, that's some of the stuff I wasn't sure about. The LS7 kit I looked up came with also has a flywheel, made for an LS7. I assume it's lighter but not positive. Since it looks like I may have to piece together everything instead of buying a kit should I get OEM replacement pressure plates, bearings, and all that other **** or would I be better off finding a more complete kit or upgrading the other parts as well. Once again thanks, clears up some of the confusion around the subject.

I've gotta do some more research now. I just read a post that says if you're using a LS7 clutch on an LS1 you have to use a flywheel for an LS2. Nothing is ever easy.
