Default Coil HARNESS Test

This is a seemingly simple question, but I can't get an answer. Does anyone know how to test the two connectors going into the coil ? (two connectors- Gray-two pins, Black-one pin). My coil has no consistent output, so I guess I need to test the input. BIG CLUE- Some times when I tug on the harness where these connectors come from, I get a tremendous back fire like a cannon blast coming out the intake when cranking the car. That should be a tell tail sign of someting I would think. Pls. anybody with a clue as to whats going on ?? Another key bit of info, is that the ICM harness checks out perfectly (pins A,B,C, and D) Also have new Opti, coil and ICM.

check plugin connectors, both at the harness and the icm. see if the ones on icm move around when probed with small screwdriver or other small tool that you can check the soundness of the tabs. if lose it may be a bad connection inside the icm. the plugins can get lose as well and not get a clean connection.

I was thinking the same thing.....None of the connectors seem to "bottom out" on either the ICM or the coil. I'm going to try some simple homemade jumpers.

if you look inside the female side you will see there are two sides that are supposed to lock onto the male side. sometimes they get warmed enough to take the spring outa them so they dont connect right. most times you can get in there with a small screwdriver or piece of metal and bend the pressure side of the clip in so to lock the male end in again. if you know how you can release the clip so it comes out of the plastic wire housing. makes fixing easier.
