Default Clutch pedal dead zone

Yesterday I drove my car to pick up a buddy of mine. Went inside for a couple of minutes. When I came out to start the car the clutch pedal had a dead zone. The Clutch used to engage/disengage at the very top of the pedal travel. Now there is a couple inches of travel before the clutch enggages/disengages. I checked the clutch fluid and it was low. After adding some fluid the problem persists. This is my first manual car and I have only had it for a couple months so I am not sure what I am doing when it comes to diagnosing problems. Car is a 2000 3.8. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
